The International Conference on Spacecraft Mission Operations (SMOPS-2026) is being conducted in Bangalore from April 8 to 10, 2026. The conference focuses on innovative approaches to spacecraft mission management, including the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning for autonomous operations. It is jointly organised by ISRO, the Astronautical Society of India, and the International Academy of Astronautics. The event brings together experts from leading global space agencies such as NASA, ESA, and JAXA to discuss advancements in mission design, cybersecurity, and space domain awareness, reinforcing Bangalore’s status as a major hub for space research and technology in India.

Chandigarh University is the institution where Microsoft has established a state-of-the-art Skill Centre aimed at enhancing student employability in advanced technological domains. This collaboration focuses on providing certifications in high-demand areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Computing. The initiative includes access to thousands of learning modules, virtual labs, and specialized certifications like Azure Fundamentals and Power BI. Ladakh has been chosen as the location for the Mission Mitra high-altitude experiment due to its extreme environmental conditions, including low oxygen levels and freezing temperatures. These conditions closely resemble aspects of space, making it an ideal terrestrial analogue for astronaut training. The mission, led by ISRO’s Human Space Flight Centre, aims to assess human adaptability, endurance, and performance in challenging environments. This initiative supports India’s Gaganyaan program by preparing astronauts for real space missions, enhancing their ability to operate effectively under stress and in isolated conditions.

New Delhi will see the establishment of animal welfare committees across all its districts as part of a government initiative to strengthen monitoring and prevent cruelty to animals. These district-level bodies will function under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and will be led by respective District Magistrates to ensure effective implementation. The move also includes restructuring existing institutions to improve efficiency. With support from the state-level Animal Welfare Board, these committees will enhance coordination, provide better enforcement, and ensure quicker responses to cases of animal cruelty.

The ‘Veer Sahara’ platform was developed by two Grade 11 students from Jayshree Periwal International School in Jaipur. The platform simplifies access to government welfare schemes by offering features such as AI-assisted interfaces, voice guidance, and bilingual support. Jaipur, known for its growing educational and technological initiatives, serves as the origin of this impactful project, highlighting the city’s contribution to innovation and social welfare through student-led efforts.
