Francis Halzen won the Nobel Prize in Physics 2026 for his decisive contributions to the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and the discovery of high-energy neutrinos of astrophysical origin. His work helped establish neutrinos as valuable cosmic messengers for studying distant and energetic regions of the universe. IceCube is a massive neutrino detector located deep beneath the Antarctic ice at the South Pole.
