Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the 'Statue of Unity' in Narmada district of Gujarat on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Sardar Patel - who served as the first Home Minister of independent India - is credited with uniting all 562 princely states in pre-independent India to build the Republic of India. That is why it is called the 'Statue Of Unity'. It is the world's tallest statue, with a height of 182m. It located around 3.5 km downstream from the Sardar Sarovar Dam, on islet Sadhu Bet on the bed of the river Narmada. The statue was designed by 93-year-old acclaimed sculptor Ram V. Sutar, who is Padma Bhushan awardee. It is built by Larsen & Toubro Ltd at a cost of Rs. 2,989 crore. . The viewing gallery at the height of 135 metres can accommodate up to 200 people at a time.

Statue of unity is a statue of Iron man of India 'Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel' which is of 182 m about 597 ft located in narmada district of Gujarat near Narmada Dam. It is 4 times taller as compare to statue of liberty.
Statues' construction was started on Sardars' 138th birth anniversary in Gujarat whose foundation was laid by our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 31 October, 2k13. The amount spent was 2900 crore built by L & T who spent nearly all the collected amount on construction. It was designed by Indian Sculptor Ram V Sutar.
For iron man statue 5000 tonnes of iron collected from farmers used instrument under Statue of Unity Movement. It was later decide that collected iron will be used in other parts of construction. It was unveiled On 31st October 2k18, 140th birth anniversary by Shri Narendra Modi.
It was predicted that about lakh will visit the Statue of Unity every year. So, the large amount of money get collected from the tourism. Also, it increases the employment opportunity, transportation system, infrastructure of that region. It was estimated that in 35 to 40 years all the expenditure get collected and later on it contributed towards our country's economy development.

The viewing gallery is at the height of 153m not 135m.
