Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) had invited tenders for supply of 500 MW power from India for short term (June 1, 2018 to December 31, 2019) and long term (January 1, 2020 to May 31, 2033). State-run NTPC Ltd will supply 300 megawatts (MW) to power-starved Bangladesh. It is a part of India's strategy of playing a key role in creating a new energy security architecture for its neighbours. Of India's current supplies of 660MW to Bangladesh, NTPC has been supplying 410MW.
