Union Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has proposed a 10% additional GST on diesel cars in a bid to discourage pollution-creating vehicles. He made the proposal at the 63rd Annual SIAM convention in New Delhi on September 12, 2023. Gadkari said that the additional GST would be in addition to the existing GST of 28% on diesel cars. He argued that the move would help to reduce pollution and promote the use of electric vehicles.
