Researchers from the University of Chicago, have discovered the remnants of seawater of the Ice Age from the rock formations in the middle of the Indian Ocean while exploring the limestone deposits that form the Maldives. It was published in the Journal Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta.They were found using the ship JOIDES Resolution.The seawater from the ice age is back salty- much saltier than the normal water. It was found to be 20,000 years older.Scientists are interested in reconstructing the last Ice Age because the patterns that drove its circulation, climate and weather are different. Understanding these will help to know how the planet's climate will react in the future.
