Denmark signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CGIAR to establish an international research center. The MoU was signed by Danish Health Minister Ellen Trane Norby Denmark in Seattle, in the United States, with the international network of research centers CGIAR. Denmark has planned to create an international research center. The main focus of the center is to fight against resistance to antibiotics, a scourge affecting almost half a million people worldwide. The center aims in leading future global work on finding new solutions for the serious challenges with antimicrobial resistance that the world is facing today. The International Centre for Interdisciplinary Solutions on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is being financed by Denmark and private investors. It is expected to be inaugurated in 2019 and is to employ up to 500 people.
