Peatlands are wetlands that contain a mixture of partially decomposed organic material. The declaration was signed on the sidelines of the Third Partners Meeting of the Global Peatlands Initiative, that was held in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, from 21st - 23rd March 2018. Indonesia has been made a party to this agreement as it is considered as most experienced country in the world on peat management issues.
