India and Nepal operationalized a peer-to-peer (P2P) cross-border remittance mechanism on June 6, 2026, enabling real-time digital money transfers between the two countries. The initiative connects India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) with Nepal's National Payments Interface (NPI), allowing users to make instant and secure transactions through mobile banking applications and digital wallets. The integration was implemented by NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) and Nepal Clearing House Limited (NCHL).
