India and Cyprus elevated their bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership during the visit of Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides to New Delhi on May 22, 2026. The partnership includes a roadmap for defence cooperation from 2026 to 2031 and the creation of new dialogue mechanisms covering cyber security, consular affairs, and connectivity. Both countries also agreed to strengthen collaboration in areas such as counter-terrorism, higher education, innovation, diplomatic training, and cultural exchanges.
