When is the International Day of the Snow Leopard observed every year?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
October 23 is observed annually as the International Day of the Snow Leopard to raise awareness about the conservation of snow leopards and their fragile mountain ecosystems. The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed this international observance in 2024 through Resolution A/RES/79/143. Snow leopards, scientifically known as Panthera uncia, are popularly called the “Ghost of the Mountains” because of their elusive behaviour and excellent camouflage. They inhabit high-altitude mountain ranges across 12 countries in Central and South Asia. The observance promotes habitat protection, biodiversity conservation, international cooperation and community participation to address threats such as poaching, habitat loss and climate change.
