World Mental Health Day is observed every year on October 10 to raise awareness about mental wellbeing, reduce stigma, and promote access to mental health care globally. The 2025 theme, “Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies,” emphasises ensuring psychological support during crises such as wars, pandemics, and natural disasters. The observance highlights mental health as a fundamental human right and encourages collective action for inclusive and accessible care worldwide.

Indian Air Force Day is celebrated annually on October 8, commemorating the founding of the IAF in 1932. The day honours the courage and dedication of IAF personnel while showcasing India’s air power through air shows, parades, and exhibitions. The 2025 celebrations focus on modernization and operational readiness, highlighting advanced aircraft and technologies such as Rafale, Tejas, and C-17. IAF Day reflects both the historical legacy of the force and its evolution into a modern, capable air force, serving as a symbol of national strength, agility, and defence preparedness.

World Cotton Day is celebrated annually on October 7 to highlight the significance of cotton in the global economy and support for cotton-producing countries. The day was officially recognised by the United Nations General Assembly on 30 August 2021, following a proposal by the Cotton-4 nations—Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, and Mali—later joined by Côte d’Ivoire. The first celebration took place on 7 October 2019 at the World Trade Organization (WTO) headquarters in Geneva, emphasizing cotton’s role in trade, livelihoods, and sustainable development.

World Cerebral Palsy Day is observed annually to raise awareness about cerebral palsy, a common physical disability in childhood. In 2025, it falls on October 6. The day emphasises inclusion, equality, and empowerment for people affected by CP and their families. The theme for 2025, “Unique and United,” highlights both the individual strengths of those with CP and the collective effort needed for accessibility, dignity, and social integration. Recognizing this date helps promote understanding and support for the global CP community.

World Habitat Day is observed annually on the first Monday of October to highlight the state of human settlements and the right to adequate shelter. In 2025, it falls on October 6. The day draws attention to urgent urban challenges such as climate change, conflict, and inequality, under the theme “Urban Crisis Response.” It also marks the start of Urban October, a month-long campaign promoting sustainable urban development and resilience. The observance includes global discussions, community programs, and initiatives to advance inclusive, safe, and resilient cities, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 11.
