National Pollution Prevention Day is observed every year on December 2 in India to honour the memory of the thousands of people who lost their lives in the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy. The disaster occurred due to the leakage of the toxic chemical Methyl Isocyanate (MIC) from a pesticide plant, making it one of the world’s most devastating industrial pollution incidents. This observance serves as a reminder of the need for strict safety regulations, responsible industrial practices, and heightened public awareness to prevent such tragedies in the future.

World AIDS Day 2025 is observed on December 01, a globally recognised date dedicated to raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, supporting those living with the condition, and commemorating lives lost. The 2025 theme, “Overcoming Disruption, Improving AIDS Response,” highlights the need to strengthen healthcare systems and maintain uninterrupted access to treatment. Jaguars, the largest wild cats in the Americas, play a crucial role as apex predators and umbrella species, helping maintain biodiversity and ecological balance. The day highlights threats such as deforestation, poaching, and habitat fragmentation, and promotes global conservation efforts, including wildlife corridors, legal protection, and community engagement. Observing this day encourages environmental education, sustainable practices, and international collaboration to ensure the survival of jaguars and the ecosystems they support.

National Milk Day is observed annually on November 26 to honour the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, the Father of India’s White Revolution. The day celebrates his pivotal role in transforming India from a milk-deficient nation to the world’s largest milk producer, contributing nearly 25% of global milk output. National Milk Day highlights achievements in dairy production, livestock care, and rural livelihoods, as well as initiatives like Operation Flood, the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, and the National AI Programme. The observance also emphasises women’s empowerment in dairy cooperatives and India’s advancements in infrastructure, technology, and GST reforms within the dairy sector.

National Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divas, is observed every year on November 26 to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly in 1949. The day honours the efforts of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and other framers of the Constitution, highlighting the values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. It aims to deepen constitutional literacy among citizens, especially students and public servants, by encouraging engagement with India’s democratic principles. National Constitution Day also reinforces the importance of fundamental rights, duties, and the moral foundations of governance in contemporary Indian society.
