North Korea launched a new "tactical nuclear attack submarine" called the Pukguksong-6. The submarine is believed to be capable of carrying and launching nuclear missiles.

The Varuna naval exercise is a biennial exercise between the Indian Navy and the French Navy. The 21st edition of the exercise, Varuna-23, was held in the Arabian Sea in September 2023. Phase II of the exercise was held from September 6 to 9, 2023.

INS Sumedha of the Indian Navy is participating in 'Exercise BRIGHT STAR-23,' which is the largest-ever joint military exercise in the Middle East and North Africa region, hosted in Egypt. This edition of the multinational Tri-Services military exercise will see participation from 34 countries.

She was commissioned into the MNS in the year 1985 and completed her Midwifery training at Command Hospital Air Force Bangalore in 1986. During her career of 38 years, She has held various key appointments in the Armed Forces Medical Services hospitals.
