The Indian Army conducted the ‘Parvat Prahaar’ exercise in Ladakh, a region of strategic importance due to its proximity to the India-China border. This exercise focused on high-altitude warfare, simulating combat scenarios in rugged mountainous terrains. Involving various military units and advanced equipment, the drill aimed to enhance the Army's readiness and effectiveness in this sensitive area, especially in light of ongoing tensions with China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera assumed charge as the new Director General of the Assam Rifles, taking over from Lt General P C Nair, who retired after a distinguished career. The Assam Rifles, known as the "Sentinels of the Northeast," play a crucial role in maintaining peace and security in India's northeastern region. Lt Gen Lakhera brings with him a wealth of experience and a strong foundation in the Indian Armed Forces, having been commissioned into the 4 Sikh Light Infantry in 1990.

The Indian Air Force has recently approved the production of 200 Astra Mark 1 missiles, which are advanced air-to-air missiles developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). These missiles are designed for use with Su-30 and LCA Tejas fighter aircraft and feature advanced guidance systems, including active radar and infrared homing capabilities. The approval marks a significant step in enhancing the air combat capabilities of the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy, demonstrating India's commitment to developing indigenous defense technologies.

The KAMAZ Typhoon-K vehicle, which the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is set to acquire, is manufactured by Russia. Specifically, the Typhoon-K is developed by Remdiesel, a subsidiary of KamAZ, a leading Russian automotive manufacturer. This 4×4 Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle is designed for troop and cargo transportation in high-risk mine areas and features advanced protection and mobility characteristics. The acquisition of this vehicle is part of ITBP's efforts to upgrade its equipment for better operational capabilities.

INS Tabar, a stealth frigate of the Indian Navy, arrived in Saint Petersburg to participate in the 328th Russian Navy Day celebrations. The visit aims to enhance maritime cooperation and interoperability between the Indian and Russian navies. During its stay, INS Tabar will engage in professional interactions and a Passing Exercise (PASSEX) with the Russian Navy. Commanded by Captain MR Harish and comprising 280 personnel, INS Tabar is part of the Indian Navy’s Western Fleet based in Mumbai and is equipped with a versatile range of weapons and sensors.
