Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre, also known as Viveka Smaraka, at the Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama in Mysuru, Karnataka, on August 1, 2026. The centre commemorates the support extended by the then Maharaja of Mysuru to Swami Vivekananda about 130 years ago before his historic address at the 1893 Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago. The event also highlighted India's progress in education through the establishment of new universities, colleges, PM SHRI schools, and Atal Tinkering Labs. Additionally, the Kannada translation of the Valmiki Ramayana was released to promote regional literature and cultural heritage.
