If Diameter of the particle lies between 0.1mm to 1mm then settling is called transition settling is given by,

V = 418*(S-1)((3T+70)/100).

V = 418*(1.75-1)((3*10+70)/100).

V = 313.5 cm/sec.

Thanks @Rathi.

We should consider diameter in that formula right ?

V = 418*(S-1)D((3T+70)/100).

Yes, @Shwetha.

Ans is 156.75cm/sec.

418*(1.75-1)*0.5*((3*10+70)/100)=156.75cm/sec. Because if D=0.1mm to 1mm, V=418*(S-1)*D*((3T+70)/100).

The ans is 15.675 cm/sec.
D=0.5mm=0.05cm.

Yes, correct @Rathi.

No, d in the formula. So the answer is 313.5cm/sec.

Here, Specific gravity is 2.5 then we get correct answer with formula 418(Gs-Gw)d(3T+70/100).

@Rathi formula is wrong.

V = 418*(G-1)D((3T+70)/100)
Here,
specific gravity G=2.5.
the diameter of particle D=0.5mm.
temperature T=10.
Answer is 313.5cm/sec.

Here unit is also incorrect. It should be mm/sec. If cm/sec then answer shall be 31.35 cm/sec as per Shweta's formula
