The deflection is due to couple M at the free end of a cantilever length L.

Deflection = ML^2/2EI.
Slope = ML/EI,
So, the given answer is correct.

For the cantilever beam.

Slope : Ml^2/2EI
Deflection : Ml^3/3EI
The option C is not correct answer.

Slope is ML/EI.
Deflection is ML2/2EI.

The moment equation is m.

Integrate it w.r.t length, we will get slope eq ML.
Again integrate it will get we will get deflection equation ML^2.
So ml^2/EI.

By conjugate beam method finding BM for conjugate Beam is equivalent to deflection of desired beam so C is answer.

Question is not talking about load, it is asking about moment. That's why option C is correct.

We have already learnt this in strength of materials subject in second year that too its a basic one simple for cantilever beam. Slope is ML^2/2EI.

Thank you.

IT is ML^3/3EI = Deflection.

ML^2/2EI is Slope.
