Nabin Neupane said: (Dec 9, 2013) Could you please tell me how is the diamond riveting?

Ram said: (Jan 26, 2015) Section in first row is weakest because shear strength in first row is of only. 1 Rivet and in second row shear strength is of 2 rivets and further increasing.

Akash said: (Jul 9, 2015) Let Strength of each bolt = 100KN. I. Critical state of 1st sec= (600/100) = 6. --->600KN. II. Critical state of 2nd sec = (600-100/100+100) = 2.5. (since 100KN load is taken by 1st bolt, net load transferred to second section = 600-100). III. Critical state of 3rd sec = (500-200/100+100+100) = 1. Critical condition of a bolt = (load applied/strength of bolt. Hence first section is critical section (6>2. 5>1).

Parth Dodiya said: (Jan 28, 2017) There is border of the diamond rivet that mean it's the first row at that point maxi. Shear stress occurs, so it's the weakest point of the diamond rivet is the first row.

Sanjay said: (Oct 12, 2017) Can Anyone explain critical section for diamond riveting?

Roy said: (Jan 29, 2018) Option D is the correct answer.

Akv said: (Apr 23, 2018) Suppose there is 6 bolt. 1 in the first row, 2 in the second row and 3 in the last row. For the first row, strength is due to the net sectional area and one rivet. For second row strength is due to the net sectional area and 3 rivet 1 from the first row and 2 from other rows. For third row, strength is due to the net sectional area and 6 rivet. But net sectional area1> 2 >3.

Nihal said: (Dec 14, 2020) The right Answer is row containing 1 rivet hole.

B K Jena said: (Jul 24, 2021) Here row means column. So first row is right.
