Here lower projection not given so its assume from correct answer.
Equation: T^2 = 3w/sigma(a^2-b^2/4).
Equation: T^2 = 3w/sigma(a^2-b^2/4).

Thickness = [3w/f(a^2 - b^2/4)]^0.5.
= [3 * 40/1890(8^2 - 8^2/4)] ^0.5.
= [3 * 40 * 48/1890].
= [64/21] ^ 0.5.
= [3 * 40/1890(8^2 - 8^2/4)] ^0.5.
= [3 * 40 * 48/1890].
= [64/21] ^ 0.5.

In this slab base, both projection of plates equal, a=b=8cm.
Pressure intensity w= 40kg/cm2.
Bending stress σb=1890 kg/cm2.
Thickness t= ( 3w(a2-b2/4)/σb )^0.5.
You will get t= (64/21) ^ 0.5.
