Because whenever shear force then at that point the maximum bending moment is occurred it doesn't matter it is weather it is sagging or hogging.

The bending moment is maximum when shear force is zero for eg. Incase of uniformly distributed load shear force zero at the middle and where BM is max so Q asked max hogging moment it doesn't matter that is sag and hog and another will be. Inside the face of a heavier column and this is IES. 2004Q.

A point where shear force diagram changes that means +ve to -ve or vice versa then bending moment diagram will be maximum or minimum at a neighbourhood point. So E option is correct.
