A foundation is called shallow if its depth, is less or equal to its width. And it is satisfying all the given options.

Right answer is E.

D < width = shallow (e.g, raft, combine, strap etc).
D > width = deep ( eg, pile pier caissons etc).

Here in all given options depth is less than width so all of above are shallow footings.

D <or=width.

ie, shallow foundation. all options are correct.

D/B <= 1 Shallow.
D/B > 1 Deep.

So the given option is correct.
