Cohesion : The force of attraction between the molecules of a liquid by virtue of which they are bound to each other to remain as one assemblage of particles is known as the force of cohesion.

Yes, molecules attraction due to cohesion.

Guys let me tell you that correct answer must be cohesion.
(This question is taken from A book name Objective civil engineering(By R Agor) in which the given answer is Adhesion that is wrong).

Cohesion is the exact answer.

Cohesion isvthe property of a material to attract its molecules whereas.

Adhesion is the property to attract other molecules and threfre water does not attract other molecules. So answer is D.

D) cohesion is the answer.

Answer should be cohesion according to the question.

Actually, both are attractive forces.

Difference is only that adhesive force is an attraction between unlike molecules (eg molecules of water with beaker) and cohesion is between like molecules (molecules of water).

Fluids means different fluids not one fluid. Different fluids molecules attract due to adhesion. And if written attraction between fluid (note here no 's' at end ) so there having same fluid with differnt molecules and so cohesion.
