The round aggregate has 30-35% void ratio which is minimum as compare to irregular and flaky so when we compact found lesser voids.

Rounded aggregate has lesser voids of all types and when it is compacted it will be still lower.

For same nominal size of aggregate, rounded has greater void in compare to irregular.

There should be two types of coarse sand with irregular sizes for better compaction.
