And For Elongated Particles, their Maximum dimension should be larger than 1.8 times of mean size.

In other words we can say that an aggregate is said to be flaky if its least dimension is less than 0.6 times of mean dimension.

1. Flaky Particles: The particles whose least dimension is less than 0.6 times the mean size dimensions.

2. Elongated particles: The particles whose greatest dimension is greater than 1.8 times the mean size dimension.

3. Mean size of aggregates: Mean size of aggregates is defined as the mean of two seive sizes, between which the particle is retained i.e. Mean size = (Passing sieve size + Retaining sieve size)/2.

An aggregate is said to be flaky if its least dimension (thickness) is less than 0.6 (3/5) times the mean sieve size. An aggregate is said to be elongated if its greatest dimension is greater than 1. 8 times the mean dimension. Flaky means having less thickness, elongated means having more length.
