Alumina plays a major role in brick. It acts as a cementing material in raw brick. Brick clay is plastic due to the presence of alumina. This plasticity ensures that bricks can be molded. An excess amount of alumina in clay may cause the bricks to shrink, warp, or crack on drying and burning as any other cementing material. The Percentage content of the brick does not make the brick the main constituent. Alumina is the main constituent of every kind of clay. The only thing that matters is function or role similarly. So, here alumina is correct.

Alumina is the principal constituent of every kind of brick earth. It imparts plasticity to the brick earth which is essential for proper molding of bricks. Clay in brick earth shrinks and cracks on drying. It also wraps and becomes very hard on burning unless mixed with sand.

A major constituent in brick earth is silica, and alumina also plays an important role, but in the question specific property or function is not mentioned. So the correct answer is silica.

The most important ingredient in the brick earth is SILICA. The amount of silica present in brick earth is 50-60% and it prevents cracking and warping of raw bricks.

Yes silica has more percent (50-60) and alumina has (20-30) but the main ingredient for its good quality is Alumina. So, the answer must be D.

Alumina is the right answer. It provides the plasticity to the brick, not the percentage of composition that makes silica the main ingredient.

Silica may b the major constituent of the brick earth but a principal constituent of the brick earth is ALUMINA. So it's right.

The major role in bricks composition is done by aluminium because it provides plasticity none of the other compounds can do so.
