First class bricks : 20%,
Second class bricks : 22 %,
Third class bricks : 25%.

Heavy duty machine made bricks should not absorb more than 5% of their weight.

Those who are telling 15% is the ans, based on SSC JE ans key, but actual book has written 20%. So the given ans is correct.

AS per IS-1077: 1992, if a brick have a class designation (CD-10) called first class bricks.

And requirement of water absorption shall not be more than 20% up-to CD-12.5

The maximum limit for water absorption for first class is 15%.

The second class is 20%.
And the third class is 25%.

For first class bricks, the water absorption capacity should not be more than 20% by weight.
