Explanation:

1) Modular Bricks:
Standard size of brick = 19 cm * 9 cm * 9 cm.
Nominal size of a brick with mortar = 20 cm * 10 cm * 10 cm.

2) Non-Modular Bricks:

Conventional size of brick = 22.4 cm * 11.4 cm * 7.6 cm.

The actual size of the standard modular brick as per Indian Standards is 19 cm * 9 cm * 9 cm.

For India, a brick of standard size 190 mm x 90 mm x 90 mm is recommended by the BIS. With mortar thickness, the size of such a brick becomes 200 mm x 100 mm x 100 mm and it is known as the nominal size of the modular brick. Thus the nominal size of brick includes the mortar thickness.

Bricks Sizes as per Indian Standard (IS 1077):

Brick sizes based on IS 1077 specification (Common burnt clay building bricks), the standard modular size of common building brick is 190 x 90 x 90 mm or 190 x 90 x 40 mm (length x depth x height).

India, standard brick size is 190 mm x 90 mm x 90 mm as per the recommendation of BIS.

With mortar thickness, the dimension of the brick becomes 200 mm x 100 mm x 100 mm which is also known as the nominal size of the modular brick.

According to BIS the size of a standard or actual bricks 19x9x9 cm and the normal or nominal or module bricks size is 20x10x10 cm module means with mortar module size always greater than standard size.

Modular bricks are of nominal size 20*10*10 cm and 20% of the volume is lost in mortar between joints then what is the number of modular bricks required per cubic meter of brickwork?

1) standard, modular, & actual size of a brick.
That is (Without mortar) =19*9*9 cm.
And

2) nominal size of a modular brick.
That is (with mortar )= 20*10*10 cm.
That's its.

Standard size of brick = 19 X 9 X 9.
Size of modular brick = 10 X 10 X 9.
Nominal size of modular brick = 20 X 10 X 10.

So, The correct answer is A.

Standard size - 19x9x9.

Nominal or modular brizk size - 20x10x10.

But anyone can explain what is the nominal size of a standard modular brick?

Standard brick ( modular brick )= 19 x 9 x 9 cm without mortar.

Standard brick ( modular brick )= 20 x 10 x 10 cm with mortar.
