What is brittleness of "cold"?

And I think that's coal.

What is the exact answer? Please tell.

What is 'cold'? Which material/substance is 'cold'. The question is either incorrect or incomplete.

If truly it's 'cold short steel' then the question should be corrected & written as 'Brittleness of cold short steel is due to an excess of'.
