Yes, I agree with answer because veneers in odd numbers are placed one above the other with the direction of grains of successive layers at right angles to each other.

Plywood is made of three or more thin layers of wood bonded together with an adhesive. The use of adjacent* in the question, adjacent veneer implies the veneer just above it or below, if the fibres run at 90* then adjacent veneers can have a strong bond when glued unlike where fibres of adj. Veneers run parallel to each other. Each veneer is like a single plate of wood which has fibres/grooves in a certain direction.
