The sound caused by the reflection of sound waves from a surface back to the listener is called Echo.

A reverberation, or reverb, is created when a sound or signal is reflected causing numerous reflections to build up and then decay as the sound is absorbed by the surfaces of objects in the space " which could include furniture, people, and air.

Reverberation time is measured by recording a sound level as it decreases after the source of the sound has been cut off.

If we shout or clap, near a tall building or a hill, we will hear the same sound back in a little time. This is called an echo.

A sound created in a big hall will persist by repeated reflections from the walls until it's reduced to a value where it is no longer in the audible range of human hearing. This phenomenon is called as reverberation.
