The answer must be Clouser because statement shows cutting brick across the width(means cutting width in two parts or at cutting at a right angle).
Brick cutting across Width/2 = Clouser.
Brick cutting across length/2 = Bat.
Brick cutting across Width/2 = Clouser.

I think the correct explanation is if the brick is cut along half of width is called Queen Closer. And if half is not mentioned is called bat.

Answer should be closer and not bat. Along the width is the bat and across the width means along the length which equals to closer.

Along and across are the same. Across only means "along the shorter dimension" I think. English usage.

Across means perpendicular while along with means parallel to something. So the right answer is D.
