Across the width = Along the Length = Closer.
Across the length = Along the width = bat.

The answer must be Clouser because statement shows cutting brick across the width(means cutting width in two parts or at cutting at a right angle).
Brick cutting across Width/2 = Clouser.
Brick cutting across length/2 = Bat.
Brick cutting across Width/2 = Clouser.
Brick cutting across length/2 = Bat.
