Am I correct?

The actual runway length= 2,000 m.

Temperature correction:

1 degree --> 1%.

17 degree--> 17% extra.

Corrected runway length = 2000+((17/100)*2000) = 2340 m.

But how the answer is 2816 m.

Can anybody explain it?

Please define the answer clearly.

@Aparna.

How you have taken actual value as 2000m & temperature correction as 1 degree?

Can you clarify me?

@Satya.

For every degree rise in temp 1% temperature correction is to be applied IRC recommendation.

The data in the question is insufficient.

1. Basic Runway length is missing.
2. Elevation of the airport above MSL is missing.
The rise in temp at the particular elevation= [ART- {15-(0.0065*elevation)].
The corrected runway length would be = basic runway length+ [rise in temp*Basic length/100].

@Aparna,

1% per 1 degree rise in temperature above airport standard temperature of 15°, so basically it should be around 2%.

"The length of a runway under standard atmospheric conditions is 2000 m. If the actual reduced level of the site is 1200 m, if the aerodrome reference temperature is 17.2, the net designed length of the runway is" is the actual question.

@Anjila.

The above question is incorrect and data is missing.

After considering your question the combined correction for both temperature and elevation is 2534.4 which is 40.8% of basic length. And that's an error as per ICAO. Remodelling should be done.
