Same as centrifugal decanter used in low density same for in extraction.

As additional work needs to be done to separate as the density difference is low.

The density difference is very small so that having same melting point so that it difficult to separation.

Also we can use evaporator to separate the liquid based on density difference.

Mixer-settler is used when separation by gravity and high residence time is possible. The pulsed extractor is used for the extraction of radioactive solvents in nuclear plants. Lastly, packed extraction is used depending on solubility. So when we have solvents with lower density difference we use a centrifugal extractor, it increases randomness and hence gives better mass transfer.

Centrifugal extraction: due to centrifugal action helps the substance to settle in a shorter time.
Mixer settler no external force so we have to wait until late it settle.
