50 men took a dip in a water tank 40 m long and 20 m broad on a religious day. If the average displacement of water by a man is 4 m3, then the rise in the water level in the tank will be:
20 cm
25 cm
35 cm
50 cm
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Total volume of water displaced = (4 x 50) m3 = 200 m3.

Rise in water level = 200 m 0.25 m = 25 cm.
40 x 20

Displacement of water by 1 man = 4 m3.

Total volume of water displaced by 50 men = (4 x 50) m3 = 200 m3.

Rise in water level in the tank is same as the height of the volume of cuboid.

Volume = Length x Breadth x Height.
Rise in water level = 200/(40 x 20) = 0.25 m or 25 cm.

Guys could anyone explain me.

How they find rise in water level = volume/(l*b)?

Whether any formula is there to find out rise of water level?

@Bavithra.

We consider the shape of the tank to be a cuboid as in the question it is given that the tank is 40m long and 20m broad. Here length and breadth are given, which indicates that the tank is cuboidal in shape.

@anshik

They simply used the formula l*b*h, here u need too find the height=total water /l*b

Why not we consider a cylindrical shape tank? Then the volume for the cylinder is different.

@Khushi.

By calculating h, we get;
h=200/20*40,
= 1/4,
= 0.25.
