A and B can together finish a work 30 days. They worked together for 20 days and then B left. After another 20 days, A finished the remaining work. In how many days A alone can finish the work?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
(A + B)'s 20 day's work = | ![]() |
1 | x 20 | ![]() |
= | 2 | . |
30 | 3 |
Remaining work = | ![]() |
1 - | 2 | ![]() |
= | 1 | . |
3 | 3 |
Now, | 1 | work is done by A in 20 days. |
3 |
Therefore, the whole work will be done by A in (20 x 3) = 60 days.

Now total work=30 units.
A + B complete the 30 units of work in 30 days.
So, in one day they together complete 1 unit of work.
In 20 days, they complete 20 units of work.
Agree?
Now remaining work is 30 units-20 units=10 units is remaining which will be completed by A.
A takes 20 days to complete the remaining 10 units of work.
So he does 10/20= 1/2 unit of work in one day.
If A completes 1/2 unit of work in one day, then how many days he will take to complete the entire 30 units of work?
30/ (1/2) = 60 days.
A + B complete the 30 units of work in 30 days.
So, in one day they together complete 1 unit of work.
In 20 days, they complete 20 units of work.
Agree?

A takes 20 days to complete the remaining 10 units of work.
So he does 10/20= 1/2 unit of work in one day.
If A completes 1/2 unit of work in one day, then how many days he will take to complete the entire 30 units of work?
30/ (1/2) = 60 days.

E * t = w.
Since e is inverse of t so 20 becomes 1/20.
Now 1/20*t=1/3 since we have to find the time taken so,
T =20/1/3 HENCE T= 60 because in LHS it is multiplication so after coming to RHS it will divide.

Together 1/30*20=2/3.
2parts work completed.
Remaining 1 part 'A'completed in 20days.
1part work 20days.
3 prts --------?.
3 * 20 = 60 days.
