Your method is totaly wrong. When c comes in right hand side it will become negative.

A + b + c = 1/4 of the work.
1/16 + 1/12 + c = 1/4.
3/48 + 4/ 48 + c = 1/4.
7/48 + c = 1/4.
C = 1/4 - 7/48 = 12-7/48 = 5/48.
C can do 5/48 of the work per day.
Therefore he can complete his work on 48/5 days = 9 3/5.
