3.
A sum of money is to be distributed among A, B, C, D in the proportion of 5 : 2 : 4 : 3. If C gets Rs. 1000 more than D, what is B's share?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let the shares of A, B, C and D be Rs. 5x, Rs. 2x, Rs. 4x and Rs. 3x respectively.
Then, 4x - 3x = 1000
x = 1000.
B's share = Rs. 2x = Rs. (2 x 1000) = Rs. 2000.

Let the total sum of money be x.
5 + 2 + 4 + 3 = 14.
If C - D=1000.
Then:
4/14(x) - 3/14(x) = 1000,
[4/14 - 3/14]x = 1000.
Since the fractions have the same denominator, we can break it down as;
1/14 x = 1000,
x = 1000 * 14,
x= 14000.
If the ratio of B is 2/14.
2/14 * 14000 = 2000,
So, B = 2000.
5 + 2 + 4 + 3 = 14.
If C - D=1000.
Then:
4/14(x) - 3/14(x) = 1000,
[4/14 - 3/14]x = 1000.
Since the fractions have the same denominator, we can break it down as;
1/14 x = 1000,
x = 1000 * 14,
x= 14000.
If the ratio of B is 2/14.
2/14 * 14000 = 2000,
So, B = 2000.

The question that means if c gets 1000 more than d and this is a keyword.
That's while: c refers as 4x and d refers as 3x. which means 4x + 1000=3x
=> 4x-3x=1000
X=1000.
Thereby sub x=1000 in all term,
5x=5000 as A share,
2x=2000 as B share,
4x=4000as C share,
And 3x=3000 as D share.

It can also be solved in this way;
Suppose the total amount is x.
Total of the ratios is 14.
C's share:
4/14 x = 3/14x + 1000( c get 1000 more of d, d share is 3/14 x).
4/14 x - 3/14 x = 1000.
(1/14)x = 1000.
x = 14000.
B's share:
= 2/14 * 14000.
= 2000.

Ramesh even I had calculated in the same way as per ur 1st comment.
But,this assumption might go wrong as per different values.
Like some people might assume D value as 500.
then C becomes 1500....
So, better to follow the calculation formulas dear :)

A:B:C:D= 5:2:4:3.
A's money share = 5x
B's money share = 2x
C's money share = 4x
D's money share = 3x.
C get 1000 more than D.
C's money= D's money + 1000,
4x= 3x + 1000,
4x-3x = 1000,
X = 1000.
B's money share=2x,
= 2 * 1000,
= 2000.
A's money share = 5x
B's money share = 2x
C's money share = 4x
D's money share = 3x.
C get 1000 more than D.
C's money= D's money + 1000,
4x= 3x + 1000,
4x-3x = 1000,
X = 1000.
B's money share=2x,
= 2 * 1000,
= 2000.

Let the shares of A, B, C and D be Rs. 5x, Rs. 2x, Rs. 4x and Rs. 3x respectively.
C gets Rs. 1000 more than D.
So we take, C+1000 = D.
3x+1000 = 4x (put C=3x,D=4x).
1000 = 4x-3x.
x = 1000.
B's share = Rs. 2x = Rs. (2 x 1000) = Rs. 2000.
C gets Rs. 1000 more than D.
So we take, C+1000 = D.
3x+1000 = 4x (put C=3x,D=4x).
1000 = 4x-3x.
x = 1000.
B's share = Rs. 2x = Rs. (2 x 1000) = Rs. 2000.

Given A:B:C:D is 5:2:4:3.
Let take 'x' as constant.
A = 5x, B = 2x, C = 4x,D = 3x.
Given that difference between C and D is 1000 which means C is Rs.1000 more than D
then,
4x - 3x = 1000,
x = 1000 then,
B = 2x = 2(1000) = 2000.

Thanks every one.
The simplest solution I found is;
a:b:c:d
5:2:4:3
let the amounts be;
5x,2x,4x, and 3x respectively.
then according to the condition.
1000=c-d.
1000=4x-3x.
1000=1x.
Since;
b=2x.
Therefore.
b=2(1000),
b=2000.

Very simple logic. Here question clearly saying that C gets 1000 more than D that is 4x-3x=1000 and x=1000.
Then for A, 5x = 5*1000 = 5000.
B, 2x = 2*1000 = 2000.
C, 4x = 4*1000 = 4000.
D, 3x = 3*1000 = 3000.
Then for A, 5x = 5*1000 = 5000.
B, 2x = 2*1000 = 2000.
C, 4x = 4*1000 = 4000.
D, 3x = 3*1000 = 3000.

Look for first let the cost be x.
5x 2x 4x 3x.
Then the say C has 1000 rs more than D.
So C-D = 1000.
C = 4x and D = 3x.
4x-3x = 1000.
x = 1000.
B = 2xx.
Therefore B = 2*x\2*1000.
= 2000!
5x 2x 4x 3x.
Then the say C has 1000 rs more than D.
So C-D = 1000.
C = 4x and D = 3x.
4x-3x = 1000.
x = 1000.
B = 2xx.
Therefore B = 2*x\2*1000.
= 2000!
