3.
A sum of money is to be distributed among A, B, C, D in the proportion of 5 : 2 : 4 : 3. If C gets Rs. 1000 more than D, what is B's share?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let the shares of A, B, C and D be Rs. 5x, Rs. 2x, Rs. 4x and Rs. 3x respectively.
Then, 4x - 3x = 1000
x = 1000.
B's share = Rs. 2x = Rs. (2 x 1000) = Rs. 2000.

The question that means if c gets 1000 more than d and this is a keyword.
That's while: c refers as 4x and d refers as 3x. which means 4x + 1000=3x
=> 4x-3x=1000
X=1000.
Thereby sub x=1000 in all term,
5x=5000 as A share,
2x=2000 as B share,
4x=4000as C share,
And 3x=3000 as D share.

Simple way to solve:
A : B : C : D = 5 : 2 : 4 : 3.
In this ratio, B's value =2.
B's share =1000(given) * 2 = 2000(option c).
A : B : C : D = 5 : 2 : 4 : 3.
In this ratio, B's value =2.
B's share =1000(given) * 2 = 2000(option c).

We can solve it by also the following method;
let the sum of the money be X.
then,5X/14+2X/14+4X/14+3X/14=X. [because(5+2+4+3=14)
A's share=5X/14,B's share=2X/14,C's share=4X/14 and D's share=3X/14
It is given that C gets Rs. 1000 more than D,
i.e, 4X/14=1000+3X/14
4X/14-3x/14=1000
X/14=1000
X=14000.
So, B's share is 2X/14=2*14000/14 = 2000 Rs.

X=14000.
So, B's share is 2X/14=2*14000/14 = 2000 Rs.

In the question he didn't mention that money is equally distributed, so how could all take it as var x for all?

Thanks every one.
The simplest solution I found is;
a:b:c:d
5:2:4:3
let the amounts be;
5x,2x,4x, and 3x respectively.
then according to the condition.
1000=c-d.
1000=4x-3x.
1000=1x.
Since;
b=2x.
Therefore.
b=2(1000),
b=2000.

@Ramesh, I have a question.
If give A : B is 8 : 3, B : C is 1 : 3 and the difference of A and C is 6, how do I get the value of B?

a = 5000.
b = 2000.
c = 4000.
d = 3000.
Then written it in the form of proportion,
5x, 2x, 4x, 3x then c gets more than 1000 then c = 4000 and x = 1000 then b = 2x.
So, 2[1000] = 2000.
b = 2000.
c = 4000.
d = 3000.
Then written it in the form of proportion,
5x, 2x, 4x, 3x then c gets more than 1000 then c = 4000 and x = 1000 then b = 2x.
So, 2[1000] = 2000.
