Answer: Option
Explanation:
Originally, let the number of seats for Mathematics, Physics and Biology be 5x, 7x and 8x respectively.
Number of increased seats are (140% of 5x), (150% of 7x) and (175% of 8x).

(5:7:8) *10 = 50:70:80
40% of 50 = 20,
50% of 70 = 35,
75% of 80 = 60.
So, 50 + 20 = 70.
70+35= 105.
80+60 = 140.
70 : 105 : 140 = 2:3:4.
40% of 50 = 20,
50% of 70 = 35,
75% of 80 = 60.
So, 50 + 20 = 70.
70+35= 105.
80+60 = 140.
70 : 105 : 140 = 2:3:4.

Increase of say Mathematics is 5x * 40% + 5x = 5x * (40/100 +1) = 5x * (140/100) = 140% * 5x.
same for 150% and 175%.
Increase of say Mathematics is 5x * 40% + 5x = 5x * (40/100 +1) = 5x * (140/100) = 140% * 5x.
same for 150% and 175%.

To find the increased seats, we multiply the original seats by (1 + \frac{{40}}{{100}}).

Is it because of the percentage increase we are taking 140%?

7x : 21x/2 : 14x from 14x : 21x : 28
To make the same denominator we have to multiply with 2 (7x*2/2 and 14*2/2)
14x/2 : 21x/2 : 28x/2 ( now we have the same denominator) we can ignore the denominator
Take LCM of 14x: 21x: 28x,
We get 2x: 3x: 8x.
