Is it necessary to find ratio of A and B? Can we find share of B directly?.

A+B=1210

(4/15)A=(2/5)B

2A=3B

Therefore, A=(3B)/2

and substituting, (3B/2)+B=1210

and hence, 5B=2420 => B=484 Rs.

@Hi Gauri

Don't confuse about 2/5 it isn't that which is in question statement while it is (A:B=3:2 so B's =2/5)

Hey rekha,
It is nothing.They used the formula
To find a=total amt given*(a ratio/a+b ratio)
To find b=total amt given*(b ratio/a+b ratio)

4/15*(1210-B)=2/5*B
=>5B=2*1210
=>B=2*1210/5
=>B=484
