1.
A train running at the speed of 60 km/hr crosses a pole in 9 seconds. What is the length of the train?
120 metres
180 metres
324 metres
150 metres
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Speed = 60 x 5 m/sec = 50 m/sec.
18 3

Length of the train = (Speed x Time).

Length of the train = 50 x 9 m = 150 m.

@All.

Here, Speed of the train = 60×(5/18) = 50/3.

60 * 5/18 = 50/3,
Length = speed * time.
l = 50/3 * 9sec= 150 meters.

@All.

Here's my explanation.

A train running at a speed of 60 km/h takes 9 seconds to cross an electric pole.

Formula used:
Distance = speed × time.
1 km/h = (5/18) m/sec.

Calculation:

Length of train = distance.
Speed convert km.hr to m/sec.
⇒ 60 × (5/18).
⇒ Speed = 16.67 m/sec.

Distance = 16.67 × 9
⇒ 150 m.

∴ The length of the train is 150 m.

60 * 9 = 540,
540 * 5/18 = 150.

Here it is asked for the length of the train and not the distance covered by the train. So anyone explain me this?

How we get 50, 3 and 18 in the solution?

Speed = 60 km/h = 60 * 5/18 = 50/3 m/s.
Time taken = 9 sec.
Length = speed * time = 50/3 * 9 =150 m.

For km;
a/hr = (a*5%18).

And for m;
a/hr = (a * 18%5).
