1.
A train running at the speed of 60 km/hr crosses a pole in 9 seconds. What is the length of the train?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
| Speed = | ![]() |
60 x | 5 | m/sec |
= | ![]() |
50 | m/sec. |
| 18 | 3 |
Length of the train = (Speed x Time).
Length of the train = |

Here is the answer for 5/18.
Conversion of km/hr to m/s.
Let.
Km = 1000 m.
hr = 3600 sec.
So,
Km/hr = 1000/3600 (m/s),
Both cancell with 200,
So then. 1000/3600 = 5/18.
Because 200 has the greatest common divisor.

Speed = 60 km/hr.
Convert to m/s: 60 × 1000.
3600 = 16.67 m/s
Time to cross the pole = 9 s
Length = Speed × Time
= 16.67 × 9
= 150 m.
Convert to m/s: 60 × 1000.
3600 = 16.67 m/s
Time to cross the pole = 9 s
Length = Speed × Time
= 16.67 × 9
= 150 m.

In there 1km = 1000m,
and 1hr = 3600sec.
Now we should use 1km/hr = 1000/3600;
In the above line, two zeroes are cancelled.
Then 10/36, and we use division, then it comes to 5/18.

@All.
When we are converting km to meters, we have to take 5/18 as the options given in meters. So we have to do it.
