Since units place of product has 5, B and D can be easily ruled out. Now 9375/15 is 625 which is nothing but 25 sq. Hence one of the no. is surely 25 and other no. is 25 * 15 = 275. Hence 380 is also ruled out. |

25*15=375. Once again when you add 25 its 400. |

I don't understand why xy is been divided by x/y in the solution. |

I can't understand why again x=15y is calculated? |

Surya said: (Sep 24, 2013) | |

Given that, xy = 9375, x/y = 15. x = 15y. 15y*y = 9375. y^2 = 9375/15. y = 25 so x = 15y = 15*25 = 375. x+y = 400. |

Why did you guys did xy/X/Y? |

Larger number is divided by small one that's why 9375/15 = 625 (25). |

Let the numbers be x and y. Given that, x*y = 9375 &...... Equation 1. x/y =15.....Equation 2. x = 15y.... Equation 1. Putting the value of x in equation 1. => 15*y*y = 9375. => 15y^2 = 9375. => y^2 = 9375/15. => y^2 = 625. => y = 25. Putting the value of y in equation 2. Now we get, x/25 = 15. x = 15*25. x = 375. Sum of x+y is = 375 + 25 = 400. Answer is 400. |

9375 / 15 = 625. 625 - 15 * 15 = 400. |

Here it is given that 15 is the quotient. So how it is coming x/y=15? |
