Similarly 84/2=42
42/2=21
21/3=7
Then we have to take the common on both sides i.e from 2*2*3*2 and 2*2*3*7. thus 2*2*3=12. Hence the answer is obtained.

It is very simple.
First, the difference between 84-36 = 48,
And secondly difference between 48-36 = 12,
Then we got HCF is 12.

36/2=18
18/2=9
9/3=3
3/3=1
that is 2*2*3*3
similarly for 86 and then take comman prime between them
and then multiply as above
18/2=9
9/3=3
3/3=1
that is 2*2*3*3

firstly find the prime factors of both the numbers
then choose the common prime numbers whose power is less
tats the hcf

H.C.F OF 36 AND 84 is
36)84(2
72
--
12)36(3
36
---
X
so H.C.F=12.
36)84(2
72
--
12)36(3
36
---
X
so H.C.F=12.

36= (2)x(2)x(3)x3,
84= (2)x(2)x(3)x7,
Then take the pair that is common;
2x2x3=12.
84= (2)x(2)x(3)x7,
Then take the pair that is common;
2x2x3=12.

It's simple that 84 and 36 will be divided by only option of 12, so 12 is the HCF.
