1.
Father is aged three times more than his son Ronit. After 8 years, he would be two and a half times of Ronit's age. After further 8 years, how many times would he be of Ronit's age?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let Ronit's present age be x years. Then, father's present age =(x + 3x) years = 4x years.
![]() |
(4x + 8) = | 5 | (x + 8) |
| 2 |
8x + 16 = 5x + 40
3x = 24
x = 8.
| Hence, required ratio = | (4x + 16) | = | 48 | = 2. |
| (x + 16) | 24 |

Ten years ago Ram was thrice as old as Sham was but 10 years hence; he will be only twice as old. What is Ram's present age?

Ohhh got it ...we are to put d value of x i.e 8 in d equation...:)
= (4x+16)/(x+16)
= (4x8+16)/(8x16)
= 48/24
= 2 times
:)
= (4x+16)/(x+16)
= (4x8+16)/(8x16)
= 48/24
= 2 times
:)

How is it (4x + 8) = 5/2(x +8)?
It should be multiplied in 5/2(4x +8). Because he is the age of father.
Any body explain?

Again Repeat in question after 8 year find then you should take equal then put the value of x then find the value of 2.

Why 5/2 is multiplied?
With (x+8) not with (4x+8). Someone above said to cross multiply 2 *(4x+8) but I dint get it.

For every 8 years father's age decrease by halftime of his son's age so after further 8 years (5/2) - (1/2) =2 times.

Two and half times means : 2.5.
Multiply both numerator and denominator by 2.
Thus,
2.5 x 2 / 1 x 2.
5/2 or 2.5.
Multiply both numerator and denominator by 2.
Thus,
2.5 x 2 / 1 x 2.
5/2 or 2.5.

He would be 2 (1/2) times of Ronit's age.
2 1/2 which is a mixed fraction. So it is written as [ (2*2) +1]/2 = 5/2.
2 1/2 which is a mixed fraction. So it is written as [ (2*2) +1]/2 = 5/2.
