Isn't it 20 years?
He is 22 years only after 2 years. To find the present don't we have to subtract 2years from 22?
Please tell me.

It is Simple.
X is the age of son (added with the age of his father) and and 24 is the age of his father which increases by 2.

I don't know why the answer is 22?
It must be 20 years, because you have to find the present age not the age after 2 years.
So, 2 years must be subtracted from 22 to get the true answer.

Let
x be fathers age,
y be sons age,
so,
present age,
equ (i)... ..
x=y+24,
after 2 yrs,
equ (ii)... ..
x+2=2(y+2) -------{by rewriting x= 2y+2},
Because 2 will be added in their present age i.e in x & y, and not in equ (i)
Then (x+2 fathers age) will be = 2 * (the age of son y+2).
then put value of x from equ (ii) in equ (i) to get y(sons age).
i.e y=22.

Father is 24 yrs older than son
after 2 yrs father will be twice so we write father2 and son 1
so difern b/w 2 and 1 is of =1
so the value of 1 is 24.
24 * 2 =48,
24 * 1=24,
48-2 yrs = 46.
24-2=22 answer.
