Don't use XYZ, it's easier to buy one method i.e.

Below 8 year students = 20%.
And above 8 year students = 48,
And 8 year students = 2/3 of 8 year students,
=> (2/3)*48 => 32.

Simply things if 20% of students below 8 then same and above year students % will be = 100%-20% = 80%,
Then,
80% = 8yr students+8yr above students.
=>80% =48+32.
=>80%=80.
if 80 % students = 80.
Then 1% students =80/80 =1.
Then 100% students =100*1=100.
The total students are 100.

Let,

Total number of student = x.
Given as,
8 years age = 48
8 years above age = 48 *(2/3)
= 32.

Below 8 years age = x * 20%.

By condition,

X*20%+32+48 = x,
Or, x*(20÷100) +80 = x,
Or, x - x/5 =80,
Or, (5x-x)/5 = 80,
Or,4x/5 = 80,
Or, x = (80*5)/4,
Or, x = 100.
So, a total number of students = 100.

Ans: 100.

20% below 8 year of age. (100%- 20% ) = 80%.
80 % = age of students equal to 8 yr + age of students above 8 yr.
80 % = 48 + 2/3 * 48.
48 + 32 = 80 students,

Cross multiple;
We get 20 students,
For 20% students = 20 students,
Hence 20 % + 80 % = 20 + 80 students,
Total no of students = 100 students.

Then
20% of x +48+2/3 of 48=x.
Implies, x/5-x+80=0.
or, x=80*5/4=100.
Total no of students =100.

Total students = 100/80*80 = 100 students.

If 20 % = above 8 years so , 80 % = below 8 years + exact 8 years.
therefore 80 % ----> 2/3 of 48=32 (below 8 years) + 48(exact).
80% ---------> 80.
100% ---------> 100.
So, ans = 100.

No of students above 8 years is 48*2/3 =32,
Then let the total number of students = x,
Then 20%of x is = 20* X /100 = x/5,
Than 48 +32+x/5 = x,
Than x = 100.

x is a total number of students. Then According to the question,
x = 48 + 2/3*48 + 20% of x,
x = 48 + 32 + x/5,
4x/5 = 80,
x = 100 (total number of students).
