100%-40% = 60%.
60% = 420,
100% = x.
60x = 420 * 100.
x =700.

60% = 420,
100% = x,

Cross multiple:
x= 420 * 100/60,
= 700.

40/100*x+420 = x.

40x+42000 = 100x.

42000 = 60x.

700 = x.

x= 420+(x*40/100).
x = 420 + (x*4/10).
6x = 4200.
x = 700.

x - (x * 40%) = 420.

And you will get the value of x.

Then why the % of 420/700 becomes 60% instead of 40%?

(60/100)x = 420.

Therefore, x = 420*100/60 = 700.

100%-40%=60%,
= (420/60)*100,
= (7)*100,
= 700.

Let x be the apples.
x*40/100 = x-420.
x = 700.
